East Timor, also known as Timor-Leste (officially the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste), had a population of approximately 1.3 million people in 2020. That year, there were an estimated 6,700 people who developed TB. Among them, 670 were children. Moreover, there were 3,475 missing people with TB, of which 409 were children.

In 2022, Delft Imaging delivered 2 Delft Light portable backpack X-ray systems to the tuberculosis programme in Timor Leste. The systems were provided together with the CAD4TB artificial intelligence software, used for the automated and rapid detection of abnormalities indicative of tuberculosis on chest X-rays. The project was implemented with the necessary training and installation services. Later, an additional CAD4TB was provided to the country.
