We have had the pleasure of working with the IOM to support multiple projects across the globe.

2016

Delft Imaging and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) joined forces to integrate the CAD4TB artificial intelligence software into a national TB prevalence survey in Nepal. The cutting-edge tool analyses chest X-rays to automatically detect lung abnormalities indicative of TB. The survey is a systematic, population-based assessment aiming to determine the prevalence of TB in Nepal. By actively screening a representative sample of the population with CAD4TB, the survey offered a direct measure of TB’s impact on adults in the country.

2018

We partnered with IOM in the Philippines. Together with IOM and FIND, we worked on research to reflect the utilisation potential of CAD4TB within the country and abroad. The research helped to contribute to the available research in the field, resulting to the endorsement of WHO of CAD for TB in 2021.

2019

We delivered a multi-functional digital X-ray system, EasyDR, to IOM in Mozambique. The EasyDR was implemented with the CAD4TB AI software to screen and triage TB rapidly. The project came with the necessary training and installation services. This project was expanded with additional CAD4TB solutions across 2021 and 2023.

2021

Delft Imaging has extensively supported IOM across the Middle East. Specifically, in 2021, we were part of the Middle East Response (MER), a project funded by the Global Fund, where we implemented CAD4TB projects across the region. This included 24 CAD4TB AI software with the CAD4TBbox hardware and Delft Light portable X-ray systems for use within Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Yemen. Since then, our install base has been expanded in collaboration with IOM. We have built a close relationship and partnership with IOM and look forward to further supporting their Middle East Response in the coming years.

Delft Webinar

On 28th March 2023, Mr. Christopher Togara, Supply Chain Officer of IOM, honoured us by presenting about CAD/AI in Challenging Operating Environments (COEs)- lessons learned from the Middle East Response (MER). Mr Togara talked about the advantages of CAD4TB usage as it allows early disease detection, addresses the human resource gap, is accurate, accessible and affordable technology and improves decision-making. It’s a solution with sensitivity; thus, the need for confirmatory testing is way less. Finally, the ability of CAD4TB to work fully offline allows this solution to be used in any part of the world, which is very important in general and for the needs of this particular project in MER. Of course, he also mentioned some implementation challenges, such as shipping difficulties due to sanctions and a potential increase in unemployment. You can see the story of Mr. Togara here (timestamp 36:00).

“CAD/AI will be a more sensitive diagnostic pathway to early detection of tuberculosis, prioritising populations more at-risk for TB.”
– Mr. Togara, during the webinar
